The main active ingredients of the plant are flavonoids and alcoholites. Vitexin and isovitexine are the basic components. It also contains the flavonoids luteolin, kercetin and kempferol. The main alkaloids are harman, harmol, harmin and harmal.
In the ESCOP monograph, it is noted that different forms of the plant are used alone or in combination with appropriate plant extracts during periods such as restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, menstruation.
Pharmacological studies have shown that the sedative effect of the herb has also anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antidiabetic effects.
