Linden (Tilia) is a genus of trees in the Malvacea family that grows in temperate and semi-tropical regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In Turkey, it grows mainly in the Black Sea, Aegean, Marmara and Antalya regions. It likes temperate climates.
It has been used for centuries in the folk medicine of Europe for the treatment of a wide range of health problems. It has been observed that the brewing of tea has been a remedy for indigestion, irregular heartbeat and vomiting. Today, linden is an herb used in our homes to treat coughs and colds. The active ingredients in linden help to stimulate sweating.
Active constituents of lime include the quercetin glycosides rutin and isoquercetin, and the phenolic acids caffeic, p-coumaric and chlorogenic.
